AUE Customer order 300 pcs zinc plates

In May, 300pcs etching zinc plates are packed for delivering to our customer in AUE.

Etching refers to the creation of designs or drawings on a hard surface by cutting lines with acid.

Etching is usually done on polished copper or zinc; steel, iron or glass can also be used.

Etching painting method:

A board to be etched is first coated with a layer of acid-resistant wax, and then rubbed with a hard wax ball on the heated board; when the bottom plate is melted, roll and spread until the entire surface of the board is evenly coated with wax . Then draw or trace the desired pattern on the waxed surface with an etching needle with a round tip. When the needle is drawn, the wax is removed, exposing the metal.

After finishing the painting, the board is dipped in an acid solution, usually nitric acid, Dutch caustic, or ferric chloride. The acid attacks (bites off, or etches) the scribe, but does not affect the metal parts that are still covered with wax. Once the tiniest lines that are thought to be etched have reached a certain depth, the board is immediately removed from the acid solution and the lines are coated with a layer of acid-resistant paint, called etch stop. The metal plate is then immersed in the acid bath to further etch the unstopped lines. A sheet of metal may have to be soaked several times to allow the different lines to stop etched, creating lines, shadows, and tones.

When the etching process is complete, the rest of the wax layer is removed. The metal plates are made and printed in the same way as described in the copper plate engraving method.
